The 7th generation of the iconic Volkswagen Golf GTI is significantly lighter and faster than the predecessor. The main difference is the 2-litre TSI turbo engine which power and torque have been increased to 220 HP and 350 Nm instead of the 280 Nm of the Golf 6. In addition the German automaker is offering a factory installed power enhanced engine that produces an additional 10 HP to 230 HP with the Golf GTI Performance. The Performance Pack also includes a front differential lock exclusively developed for this version and a braking system with larger dimensions and internally-ventilated discs at all four wheels.
The 220 HP Golf GTI accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 246 km/h (DSG: 244 km/h). The 230 HP Performance version completes the sprint in 6.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h (DSG: 248 km/h). The top version is therefore 10 km/h faster than the previous model.
